The beauty of Bathroom Glass Sinks

There has been a trend in the last few years particularly in hotels, for the use of glass sinks in their bathrooms. This has been embraced by many of the leading hotel chains because it gives the room an air of class and sophistication.

You too can achieve the same effect by incorporating a glass sink into your bathroom.

It may sound dangerous to include a glass sink in your bathroom. There is a large amount of traffic that goes through the room every day. Kids are not as careful as they should be and accidents are bound to happen.

Sinks made from tempered glass have been specially designed to withstand the inevitable knocks along with temperature variations from constant use. They come in a variety of thicknesses and designs so you can choose a style that suits your needs.

If you have a look at a brochure for glass sinks you will certainly find more than you bargained for. Most people only consider a clear bowl sitting on a vanity. In fact, there are many shapes, designs and colors that can be used to complement other elements in the room.

There are sinks that appear as a stand alone unit, sinks that have been molded into a glass bench top and ones that appear more like a work of art than a functional fixture. Some complete glass units almost appear like the sink is not there at all.

While glass sinks work well with standard vanity basins, they are most impressive with metallic stands and open displays. The idea of having a glass sink is that you want to be able to see through the material to the underlying design work of the stand. This can be achieved whether the glass is clear, opaque or translucent.

If you are including colored glass ensure that the area surrounding the basin is tiled in pure white to get the greatest impact. The entire glass unit or specific components such as the pedestal or bowl can be colored and no two basins will be identical.

Glass sinks also offer additional benefits when it comes to appearance and hygiene. By its very nature, glass is much easier to keep clean, it is more capable of resisting scratches and stains and is impervious to all kinds of liquids.

Particularly where glass sinks have been incorporated into bench tops there is less opportunity for damage due to water leaks or continual splashing as is the case with wooden units. Glass basins definitely have the long-term durability required of a bathroom.

If you would like to have a modern looking bathroom then you should seriously consider having a glass sink or vanity as part of the design. There are many styles available with one sure to meet your requirements. While these units are becoming more popular there are still many people that have resisted the urge to modernize their bathroom. Add one of these and you will show your ability to move with the times.
